Grace and Favour

Project type

Final Major Project

Date

June 2022

Location

London

Grace and Favour is Daisy’s final major project that she did to complete her Degree in Hand Embroidery from the Royal School of Needlework. It portrays the Grimm’s inspired fairytale Grace and Favour, which is about two young Princes who get into trouble whilst exploring Hampton Court Palace. The piece is two 17th Century inspired frock coats made for the twin boys, coated in embroidery to look like moss and dirt from Bushy Park, where the boys got stuck. Hidden amongst the embroidery is emblems and characters from both the story and Hampton Court palace, such as Anne Boleyn’s famous ‘B’ necklace.
